THANK YOU TO ST VINCENT'S ALLIED HEALTH TEAM

UNEXPECTED DONATION TO OUR GROUP

The Allied Health Team at St Vincent's Hospital Toowoomba recently donated to our Group.  The donation was collected by team members from their 'Give for Good' Charity Fun Friday shirts.  We really appreciate their support and their donation will go a long way towards our everyday stationary costs for the group in 2025!  Carol (left) and Patricia (right) accepted on behalf of the group.  Those costs are substantial as our support group is a large one and continues to grow.  THANK YOU ST VINCENT'S ALLIED HEALTH TEAM.  WE ARE THRILLED TO RECEIVE YOUR SUPPORT!

END OF YEAR MEMBERS' LUNCH

FUN TIME HAD BY ALL!

This year's final gathering was a big affair at The Blue Mountain Hotel where everyone ordered and paid for their own lunch.  Over a hundred booked in for our lunch and it was the largest group we have had to date.

The Blue Mountain staff were very welcoming, helpful and efficient.  Food and service were great!

We had 12 Lucky Door prizes and we want to thank all those who donated anything toward the prizes.

Our raffle raised an amazing amount of money and two people, very happily, won a ham each for Xmas.  Enjoy!

Now, see if you can spot yourself, or someone you know, amongst the photos below!

AWARENESS MONTH OF APRIL 2024

APRIL SUPPORT MEETING

Big, little, small talk podcast

radio interview on april 11th

Our April meeting was extremely well attended by over 90 in the audience to listen to an address by Dr Nisal Gange, local geriatrician and clinical specialist, who attends many People with Parkinson's in Toowoomba.  Many thanks to Dr Gange, and all our wonderful speakers, who give their time so willingly.

radio interview on april 11th

Carol, our Support Group Coordinator,  was interviewed on the local ABC Radio Breakfast Show by David Iliffe.  It was only a short session but highlighted the fact that there are many people with Parkinson's Disease in Toowoomba.  However, it did not rival the national radio spot of an interview with Allan Border.  That interview is available for you here.

Big, little, small talk podcast

April  is Parkinson’s Awareness month. Megan visited the Toowoomba Parkinson’s  Support Group for the third year to hear how they are travelling. She  had the privilege of talking to two people who bring nothing but joy to  the local group. Sally Andrew takes dance classes and Melissa Forbes  instructs the Park ‘n’ Song Choir. Carol Chalmers brings us up to speed  with Joe’s progress. Here is the link to listen to the podcast.

choir in purple

Our Park 'n' Songs Choir moved into the swing of purple for Awareness Month by wearing purple to a recent session.  To add to the Parkinson's theme they used purple TOOWOOMBA balloons and had fun singing The Purple People Eater; I Like Purple Yes I Do; and Tip-Toe through the Tulips With Me.

Our Community lights up for awareness

Thank you to Toowoomba Anglican School and Toowoomba Regional Council for highlighting purple when lighting up Toowoomba this month.  Let's hope that next year we can be even more illuminating.

dance group in purple

Our Dance for Parkinson's class dressed in purple for one of our April sessions!  To make the session even more meaningful, we danced to our fellow Person with Parkinson's music, Neil Diamond.

Sweet Caroline .....
